The Bourne Legacy

As far as physical full of action super agent/spy movies go, this one is a good one. The Bourne movies were awesome but there was something about them I never liked. I think now that I've seen this one I know what it was. Matt Damon. I don't know why I just didn't like them as much as this newest one. But enough about those. The Bourne Legacy is put at the same time as Ultimatum, (they even synced in some scenes from it.) But this story is about the termination of a operation similar to Treadstone and Black Briar, but more advanced. This one is called Outcome, and the new Jason Bourne is Aaron Cross, (played by Jeremy Renner.)

(WARNING: HALF-A-DOZEN CUSS WORDS, MOST OF WHICH ARE IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE MOVIE.)

The movie starts with showing Cross's physical abilities, skills and intelligence. We see succinctly what is happening in the Bourne Ultimatum, (just little snip-its) and Dr.Marta Shearing. A scientist who works on the scientific enhancement end of Outcome. Aaron is in Alaska meeting another agent, he spends a day or so with him. The heads of Treadstone, Black Briar and Outcome are trying to decide how much of there operations have or could be compromised. A video linking two men forces them to decide to burn Outcome. We see three other agents (besides Aaron and the agent he is staying with,) each in different countries meeting their contacts, and each is given a pill. No more of the standard blue and green they need to keep their enhanced physical and mental abilities. Marta is in her lab just a seemingly normal day.
Aaron is in the cabin, when he and the other agent hear something, they other agent checks the radio and Aaron says he'll go out to the spot in the woods where they have a "nest" set up. He begins to run towards the woods when suddenly a missile zooms past him and blows the cabin up with the other agent inside.
Back in the lab one of Marta's co-workers is inconspicuously taking off door nobs and making it impossible for anyone to leave the inner lab. He then begins shooting each person in the room while the workers in the outer lab call security.
Aaron covers his tracker to block the signal, and runs for cover. He then cuts it out as the drone circles around to find him.
Security arrives at the lab and no one has access to the lab where the shooting is coming from. Marta is the only one left.
Aaron is lying in the woods in a pool of blood and wolves are surrounding him, one extra vicious wolf walks towards him and growls, he gets closer and Aaron yells and throws snow at him. This obviously does nothing but anger the wolf and he charges at Aaron.
The security guards finally get a card that allows them access to the lab but the inner doors handle is missing. They end up getting in just before Marta is killed, the man who shot everyone commits suicide.
Back in the woods Aaron pulls the trap he previously rigged up, and wrestles with the wolf to get it to swallow the tracker. The missile has fond the beacon and is closing in. He and the wolf both start to run, the missile is fired and the target is destroyed. They assume they killed Aaron when in reality he got the wolf to swallow his tracker and IT got blown up. Marta is having a hard time and is packing to go visit her sister in Canada, when a team of four agents show up to question her, it turns into a assassination. (And this is only the first half hour or so!)

I can't do justice to the movie by excluding things and summarizing it here, so I hope this has peaked your interest to see this movie because I would definitely recommend it!!

Marta and Aaron

Here is a version that goes along with the other Bourne movie covers.

  1. That's so funny. The one thing about the first three Bourne movies that I didn't like was Matt Damon. There was just something about it. Jeremy Renner was perfect for this part;)
